The aim of this bachelor´s thesis is to discover causes of a literary success of a famous novel Heart which was written by an Italian writer Edmondo De Amicis and was published in 1886. Year 1886 was a big milestone in Italian history. Population of Italian state had to adapt to the new established state - the Italian Kingdom. The main task of this thesis is to research the facts of the author´s life and his period. Then analyze the novel, describe the story and the characters, analyze the main topics and the writer´s ideas. In conclusion discover how connected are the facts about novel, author and historical context and make a summary
