The vintage supply chain: the role of networks

The purpose of this chapter is to capture an understanding of the supply chain for vintage fashion and in doing so, describe the role of networks within this chain. The research is based on an extension literature review, and adopting a case study approach, includes an empirical investigation of Glasgow based vintage retailers. The authors demonstrate the complexity of the vintage supply chain and establish that in the buying and selling of vintage fashion, intermediaries take on multiple functions. The role of networks within the vintage supply chain serves to support sourcing products and sharing historical product knowledge. Similar to a traditional clothing supply chain, networks are critical to achieve the ambitions of the firm, albeit they operate on a much more personal level
