A fragmentary green-glazed redware tobacco pipe is illustrated from the Cupp Site (33-Fa-1411), Fairfield Co., Ohio. Associated artifacts indicate a pre-Civil War occupation. Age estimates based upon flat glass thickness are 1816.1 (Ball 1983) and 1835.6 (Moir 1987). Overall affinities of the pipe are most likely eastern Pennsylvania or North Carolina but nearby Lancaster, Ohio, boasted a potter manufacturing clay tobacco pipes as early as 1817
