Existing research has shown aspirin therapy to be an effective preventive measure for cardiovascular disease in both individuals who have experienced a previous cardiovascular event and in those that are at an elevated risk to do so. Both the American Heart Association and the United States Preventive Services Task Force have recommended regular aspirin therapy for all individuals with existing cardiovascular disease, as well as individuals who present an elevated risk for a future cardiovascular event.
