Breast cancer survivors benefit from cancer treatment with increased disease-free survival, although may experience long-term side effects such as atrophic vaginitis. Chemotherapy and hormonal therapies can cause or exacerbate atrophic symptoms such as vaginal dryness, dyspareunia, and genital itching or irritation.
