An urgent need to speed up timing of surveys as well as seeking for reduction of financial costs of research prompted development of the new method of surveying. We make an overview, here, a telephone survey, and more precisely - Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI). There was a synthetic description of CATI in the second volume of ASK of 1996. In what follows we consider the effect of CATI on the information received from respondents. We analyze: (i) anonymity of respondents, (ii) 'interviewing effect', (iii) unique situation of the telephone survey, and (iv) peculiar communication with respondent
