Digital analysis of children’s writing in the stage of literacy: a technological approach from the written language phychogenesis

This process requires both theoretical knowledge and sensitivity to accurately diagnose the hypothetical level of the child’s writing construction. Usually, this work is done by literacy teachers manually, and it requires more time from these professionals, since it is not easy to perform it collectively. This way, in this study I have tried to answer the following problem: can technology support the work of literacy educators in probing the writing hypothesis? In this sense, I intend to achieve such objectives: to produce an application to digitally identify the literacy level of the children through some criteria such as the time children take to complete each phase, the number of abstentions, and classification of the level in which each child is. I also intend to test the prototype with children of a municipal school in the city of Londrina – PR and analyze if the results of this digital evaluation are the same as the manual diagnosis; and finally to learn the opinions of the literacy teachers about the application. In order to accomplish so I have used the following research methods bibliographic, field, experimental and analytical. I performed two implementation stages in 36 children from a municipal school in the city of Londrina - PR. In both situations, the application developed, which I have named Psicogênese da Escrita Infantil (PEI), presented in its report the hypothetical stage of written language according to the theory of Psychogenesis of Written Language proposed by Ferreiro and Teberosky (1999). The results have validated the efficacy of the application, since they were compatible with the manual evaluation done by the literacy teachers. The literacy teachers considered that the product has a pedagogical potential of insertion in their work that would provide a mediation of learning through technology.Os desafios da alfabetização são inúmeros, principalmente para o professor alfabetizador no que se refere à avaliação das fases de escrita dos alunos. Esse processo requer tanto conhecimento teórico quanto sensibilidade para diagnosticar de modo preciso o nível hipotético de construção da escrita da criança. Usualmente, esse trabalho é realizado pelos alfabetizadores de modo manual, e requer desses profissionais maior disponibilidade de tempo, uma vez que não é fácil realizá-lo de forma coletiva. Desta forma, procura-se neste estudo responder ao seguinte problema: pode a tecnologia apoiar o trabalho dos educadores alfabetizadores na sondagem da hipótese de escrita? Nesse sentido, pretende-se alcançar os seguintes objetivos: produzir um aplicativo para identificar por meio digital o nível da escrita das crianças em fase de alfabetização mediante os critérios de tempo que as crianças levaram para completar cada fase, número de abstenções e classificação da fase em que cada criança se encontra; aplicar o protótipo a crianças de uma escola municipal da cidade de Londrina-PR; analisar se os resultados desta avaliação digital são os mesmos do diagnóstico manual; e conhecer a opinião das professoras alfabetizadoras sobre o aplicativo. Para isso, foram utilizados os tipos de pesquisa bibliográfica, de campo, experimental e analítica. Foram realizadas duas etapas de aplicação, em 36 crianças de uma escola municipal da cidade de Londrina-PR. Em ambas, os dados mostraram que o aplicativo produzido, Psicogênese da Escrita Infantil (PEI), apresentou em seu relatório a fase hipotética da língua escrita de acordo com a teoria da Psicogênese da Língua Escrita proposta por Ferreiro e Teberosky (1999). Os resultados validaram a eficácia do aplicativo, uma vez que se mostraram compatíveis com a avaliação manual realizada pelas professoras alfabetizadoras.
