Evaluation of work related stress and health of physicians and nurses

Objective of the research: Evaluate work related stress and subjectyve health of physicians and nurses Goals of the research: To investigate and evaluate employee's work related stress and the main reasons of it. To find out how employees rate their health. To evaluate the connection between work related stress and subjective health Research object: X hospital employees (physicians and nurses) Methods: Psysicians and nurses that work in hospital X will be accidentaly selected for the study. An epidemiological study will be completed using questionnaire method. Results: After the analysis of the results we found out that the staff of the hospital is exposed to high levels of work load (64%). Employees have average (47%) or low (45%) freedom of decision making. Hospital staff experience average colleague support (63%) and average (69%) manager support. Employees that are younger and have less working experience tend to evaluate their subjective health better. Older and more experienced staff tend to rate their health worse. The most of the employees did not have subjective psichological disorders (49%). Employees that had low freedom of decision making is more likely to have psichological disorders, 56 % of them had mild and 14% had average symptoms of depression. Employees that had average (45,5%) or high (58,8%) support of their manager did not experience any psichological disorders. Conclusion: Hospital X employees experience work related stress caused by these factors: high work load, low freedom of decision making, high demand of specific skills. Older employees tend to evaluate their subjective health worse than yonger staff. The connection of subjective health and work related stress factors was identified between low freedom of decision making and signs of depression. Recommendations: To lower work load of the staff, to optimize working hours and night shifts. To provide more freedom of decision making. To make regular screenings of employees' health. To provide accessible psichological assistance
