Opinion of the staff service staff medical personnel on the possibility of developing their activities

The Aim of the Study. is to find out the possibilities of improvement of the activities of medical personnel in the institution providing hospital services on the basis of performed loss-making activities. Objectives. 1. To investigate the opinion of the doctor and nurses about the loss – making activities in their work related to the organization ant planning of work. 2. Find out the loss of activity caused by the human factor. 3. Compare the employees opinion about loss – making activities according to length of service Methods. The quantitative survey was carries out in December 2017 to January 2018, the hospital provide health care services. Anonymous questionnaire was used to interview physicians and nurses working at the Clinic of Therapy.180 questionnaires were distributed, 138 questionnaires were used for the used for the analysis of returned questionnaires, the response rate was 76.7 %. Results. The research was carried out evaluating the activities by eight major types of losses. Loss of overproduction – transportation of the same patient 68.3%. Loss of waiting – waiting for diagnostic tests 26.8 %. Loss of bureaucracy – filling the same information in several places 74.6%. Error/defects – unreadable letter in documents 64.5%. Transportation/movement losses – unnecessary transportation of patient 25.3%. knowledge – employees are not encouraged to improve 31.2%, they are not satisfied with the possibilities of self – realization 26.8%. human factor - related losses: inaccurate information in documents; handwritten instructions not included; lack of staff knowledge and lack of development opportunities. Employees with the shorter working lives indicated that the same information is filled in several places 82.9%, information is sought 51.3%., measures for work 44.7%. Workers with longer period of work are waiting for the appointment of treatment initiation 24.2%, said that the surplus is collected 48.8% and unused information 37.1%, more satisfied with possibilities of self – realization 45.2%, but feel tension at work 56%. Conclutions. The prevailing types of losses have been identified – overproduction, downtime, excessive bureaucracy, defects/errors, transportation/movement. Human factor caused by loss: inaccurate information in documents; mistakes in collecting the same patient information; handwritten instructions not included; tools for work and information search; insufficient use of staff knowledge and lack of development opportunities. Employees of the shorter work experience are waiting for their place of work, seeking information, tools for work. Workers with longer working lives believe that the body collects surplus information, unused patient information, obsolete forms of documents, unnecessary equipment, meet the potential of self – realization and the advancement of workers, even though they feels tension at work
