Attitude of parents of the 4 th-6th grade students towards the work of public health care specialist at school.

Objective. To findout attitudes of parents of 4-6 grades students towards the public health care specialist work at school. The research was conducted in October – November of the year 2017. Parents of X region Pro-gymnasiums students participated in a survey. Overall, parents of 421 students answered to the survey questionnaire. Majority of parents (87.9 %) have indicated the need for the public health care specialist at school. More than a half (53.9 %) knows the main purpose of the public health care specialist, however, only 17.3 5 of respondents know the functions of public health care specialist very well. In general, parents assume that the greatest responsibility for childrens’ health lies on them (4.95 points out of 5). However, the public health care specialist, according to theparents (4.24 points), is liable for pupils at school. Evaluation of the information that is provided by the public health care professionals on various subjects indicates that parents allocate the highest score (3.60 points) for the provision of the first medical aid. Research shows that parents are better informed (19.1 %) about the functions of the health care specialist at schools where health enhancing activities are run in comparison with schools where such activities are not carried out (12.9 %). Students’ parents of the health promoting schools have more heard about preventive and physical activity promoting programmes (32.9 %) than parent at schools that are not health promoting schools (18,4 %).
