General practitioner dentists, endodontists and phrostodontists chemical and mechanical tooth canals surface treatment methods for glass fiber posts before cementation

Relevance of the problem and aim of the work: The usage of glass fiber posts (GFP) in entodontically treated teeth restauration is becoming more popular. One of the successful prosthetics factors, determining the longevity of entodontically treated tooth restauration, is the preparation of the tooth canal before GFP cementation. Therefore, the aim of this research is to determine the ways that dentists are choosing in preparation of dental root canals and compare them with the recommendations of the manufacturers by using the questionnaire. Material and methods: In 2017 – 2018 a questionnaire survey was carried out in private and public dental offices. During that time data was collected from 151 respondents. The survey was concluded from demographic and special questionnaire. In the special questionnaire dentists had to specify what methods and materials they are using when preparing the dental root canal before the GFP cementation. The statistical data analysis was conducted using SPSS and Microsoft Office Excel 2011. Results: The study showed that after the endodontic treatment most often dentists use GFP for the teeth restauration. 64.4% of dentists the space for GFP form with a mechanical micromotor. When analyzing the combinations of irrigation solutions that dentists choose before cementing the GFP, it was found that most of the respondents (34.4%) indicated chlorhexidine digluconate (CHX) that is afterwards flushed with water. Ananlysing the acid used for the etch of the canal, it was found that phosphoric acid is the most commonly used by the dentists (50.3%). More than half of the respondents stated that they are choosing to apply a dual curing adhesive to the canal during the last step of the canal preparation process. Conclusions: According to the research data, we can state that the most commonly used endodontically treated tooth restoration method is the GFP cementation. In the preparation of the dental canal for the GFP, dentists most often use CHX irrigation and rinsing with water, etching with 37% phosphoric acid and apply dual curing adhesive. When comparing manufacturers recommendations and the methods chosen by the dentists, it can be observed that the methods used by manufacturers to prepare the root canal do not coincide with the dentists
