This research investigates the processes of identity construction for first and second generation Indian young women living in the city of Brisbane, Australia, through a focus on their performativities within private, public, and online spaces. Situating the research within the recent ‘turn’ to emotion, embodiment and affect in the subdiscipline of young people’s geographies, the analysis tracks the emotional geographies of the young women. This is achieved by exploring the interconnections between emotions and space, and the young women’s feelings of being Indian and/or Australian at different times and in different places.
