In the present Thesis, we study the large ferroelectricity induced by magnetism in two quadruple perovskite compounds: (LaMn3)Mn4O12 and (YMn3)Mn4O12, which both display single-valent properties and a commensurate C-type antiferromagnetic structure of the B-sites. These simple features offer a playground to elucidate the contribution of the symmetric and antisymmetric exchange interactions to the polarization. Both compounds are metastable and stabilized under high-pressure. YMO is a new phase, where the small Y3+ ion exerts a large chemical pressure, which is expected to enhance the exchange interaction and, thus, the spontaneous polarization.
