Rubber-like materials are used in a wide range of applications (from basic to high-tech one). Failure of rubbers is mainly caused by rupture because of cracks : In a first step, mechanical solicitations and external atmosphere make the crack initiate. Then, under mechanical loading, it propagates until the part breaks. The main subject of this work is to facilitate the numerical simulation of crack propagation in rubber-like materials. The eXtended Finite Element Method (X-FEM), which was developed as a mean to reduce remeshing in linear fracture mechanics is used here. Moreover, the method allows the enrichment of the finite element approximation with physical based functions. The first part of this work consists in an application of the X-FE...
