Magnetic fabrics are usually studied to unravel the evolution of sedimentary basins, mainly focusing the attention in paramagnetic minerals. However, since basins are sometimes affected by burial-related chemical remagnetizations, magnetic fabrics can also be carried by authigenic ferromagnetic minerals related to remagnetization processes. Consequently, the study of the different types of fabrics can give complementary and valuable information about the evolution of sedimentary basins.
