Abstract: It is possible to show that the repeated failures of Classical Mechanics in the interpretation of phenomena of electromagnetic radiation emission and absorption by matter are not caused by the lack of new principles , but are totally due to the use of the harmonic oscillator. In this paper we show that a Coulombian field gives rise to the anharmonic oscillator equation, i.e. the very equation that player a major role in the formulation of Heisenberg ‘s Matrix Mechanics [1]. We will highlight the unsuspected quantum contents of this oscillator, and show how its use can solve the black body problem in the context of Classical Mechanics, according to the Rayleigh and Jeans approach.Note: Research direction:Ma...
