Design of a new Class 9.50 sailboat.

This final year project aims to produce a preliminary design for a Class 9.50bsailboat. The Class 9.50 is a brand new single-handed offshore racing yachts class. At present few yachts have been designed, only a couple is under construction. The interest has been driven by the author wishes to produce a reasonable size sailing yacht allowing the possibility to work on almost all components of the design process. These wishes have been reinforced by the investigation into the design choices by limiting the existing designs influence due to the Class 9.50 new existence. Research has been carried out in order to valid design choices and overcome any issues raised and encountered during the project. The solutions following here are based on the author skills, knowledge learned during this course and own experience. This report presents the design choices and decisions made, the methods used and the calculations as well as the issues raised, their solutions, all along the design process
