Study of abdominal hydatidosis with special emphasis on various diagnostic techniques and surgical procedures.

The study investigated 225 patients of abdominal hydatidosis disease.Patients were analyzed in terms of age, sex, signs, sites and symptoms. A detailed history was taken and routine and specific investigations were done which revealed abnormal observations. Abdominal pain/discomfort was the most common clinical presentation seen in 89.3% patients.. Ultrasonography was conclusive in 97.3% operations. Computerised tomography was conclusive in 18 patients .ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography) was helpful in 67.7% patients with intrabiliary rupture of cyst .All the patients underwent surgery .Partial systectomy with external tube drainage was the most common surgical procedure. Postoperative complications were observed in 18.2% patients. Mortality rate was 1.3% and recurrence was seen in 4.9% cases
