Qualitative and quantitative study on the food of some adult and young fishes from Dal lake Kashmir, correlated with hydro biological factors.

The thesis deals with the feeding conditions of various fishes such as Labeu, Schizothorax and Oreinus and other fishes acting as a source of precious food found in Dal Lake ( Kashmir). It focuses the fast deteriorating condition of this lake and finds out a possible remedy to bring back historical schizothorax(Kashmir trout) to its former pristine position especially qualitative and quantitative stuff of the food. It discusses topographic and physical features and climate of the lake. Physicochemical factors of the Dal Lake form the essential features of the study. Many other aspects dealt with include intensity of feeding in gut content; gut and body length relationship ratio; food and ovarian stages and selective seasonal feeding
