Studies on the gonadial cycles, fecundity, spawning seasons and reproductive ecology of some Kashmir fishes.

The study comprises of seven chapters containing a historical account of past work done on the subject; origin on Gonidial cycles, fecundity Spawning seasons of reproductive ecology of five fishes of Kashmir. It is followed by a discussion, comprising the present result and the results of the past workers. The observations in the study contain results pertaining to investigations of gonadial cycles, fecundity, spawning season and reproductive ecology of Schizothorax esocinas; Cyprinus carpo Specularias; Crossocheillas lateus diplochilus and barbus conchonis. It reveals that the ovaries in the fishes studied are cysto-ovarian type, which increase in weight and volume in the post spawning period from July to August upto the next spawning season of the different species
