ABSTRACTFEASIBILITY OF LIGHTING QUALITY EVALUATION IN THE READING ROOM OF SYIAH KUALA UNIVERSITY LIBRARY By ICHA MIFTURA1504005010006 Lighting quality in the library is one of the important aspects forconvenience in learning. Poor level of illuminance can affect eye health.According to the National Standard of Indonesia SNI 6197-2011, therecommended illuminance minimum level for library is 300 lux. The problemsthat are sterilized in this research is to measure the extent which the quality oflighting in the reading rooms of Syiah Kuala University Library are accordancewith the standard or not. The research was done by observation method directly inthe reading rooms of Syiah Kuala University Library by using Luxmetermeasuring instrument with reference to SNI 2004 about lighting intensitymeasurement. In this study measure the illuminance level at 4 reading rooms ofSyiah Kuala University Library. From the results of measurements obtained thehighest illuminance is 105 lux at reading room 1 and the lowest illuminance is 76lux at reference room. The average illuminance is not recommended illuminancelevel. Therefore the evaluation and recalculation of the number of luminaires in 4reading rooms. From the calculation result using the zonal cavity method forreference room, the number of luminaires required is 16 luminaires, 6 luminairesfor reading room 1 and reading room 2 and 5 luminaires for postgraduate readingroom wich each of luminaires consist with 2 lamps.Keywords: Lighting Quality Evaluation, Lighting Intensity, Standard Illuminance In The Librar
