Key message This paper aims to provide evidences of the influence of physical atmospheric parameters on the growth of the endemic tree Schinopsis brasiliensis, and their consequent teleconnection with large-scale modes of climate variability affecting rainfall in semi-arid region of the Brazilian Northeast. Abstract The Brazilian Northeast is a region of low rainfall and high temperatures and evaporation.
