Socialisation et identité : l'enfant rural scolarisé : étude du milieu marocain d'Ahmar

The study addresses several aspects of this problem among children attending school in a rural setting Ahmar, which is located in the Ahmar "cercle" of the Safi proninve. The study indicates that a new socialization process takes place. Besides the fact that it occurs in a context of acculturation, this new process is characterized by confusion as well as contradiction. A formal and consistent system of values, (one that implies some form of continuity between socializing settings, particularly the family and the school), does not exist. Consequently, as regards the identization process, the study evidenced that the rural child attending school has developed a negative (i.e., a reformative) identity. The major features of this identity are expressed in criticisms of the current state of affairs, and a search for better material living conditions in rural areas. It is, there fore, a shallowly-formed psychosocial identity, that is morally and spiritually bound with the world of adults. Because the process of socialization is truncated and distorted, it favoured a dependent and conformist social identityEtant un pays du tiers-monde, le Maroc a connu des changements tellement brutaux et profonds qu'ils ont bouleversé le système de socialisation et d'identisation (construction de l'identité) en place. L'étude de ce problème chez l'enfant scolarisé en milieu rural d'Ahmar (cercle d'Ahmar - province de Safi), a fait savoir qu'on a affaire à un nouveau processus de socialisation qui, tout en se déroulant en situation d'acculturation, se distingue par sa confusion et sa contradiction. Ceci révèle l'inexistence d'un système formel et relativement cohérent de valeurs qui implique d'une façon générale une certaine continuité entre les milieux socialisants, particulièrement la famille et l'école. Ensuite, pour le processus d'identisation, on relève que l'enfant rural scolarisé s'est, par conséquent, construit une identité négative (réformiste), dont les traits principaux se situent essentiellement sur le plan de la critique et la quête d'une amélioration des conditions de vie, surtout matérielles du monde rural. Il s'agit en fait d'une identité psychosociale superficiellement formée, étant donné qu'elle est très attachée spirituellement et moralement au monde des adultes.
