The Koppen climate classification has been applied to the output of atmospheric general circulation models and coupled atmosphere~ocean circulation models. The classification is used for a validation of the control runs of the present climate and for an analysis of greenhouse gas warming simulations. The most prominent results of the global warming computations are the retreat of regions of Permafrost and the increase of areas with Tropical Rainy Climates and Dry Climates
