Non-asymptotic observers have received a great deal of attention in recent times due to the advancement in hybrid control system theory. This is because fast and switching control methods are essential for hybrid systems. Conventional observers such as the Luenberger observers and Kalman filters are asymptotic in nature and fail to achieve this. Algebraic state and parameter estimation methods offer the alternative to conventional methods since they are non-asymptotic and have other superior features.
