The heat development that occurs due to the hydration of cement is important to consider during casting of massive concrete structures. By using computer programs that are based on finite element methods (FEM), simulations can be performed on the heat- and strength development. In this project, a FE program called ConTeSt has been used in order to predict the temperature- and strain development in a massive concrete wall. If the potential risks in a concrete structure are evaluated before casting, economical savings, including a better casting plan could be obtained.
