Sakeuttimen haran akselin teräsrakenteen suunnittelu ja verifiointi

In the mining sector, the emphasis has traditionally been on optimizing processes instead of mechanical design. However, it is beneficial for companies to harmonize their products in order to achieve a more consistent product offering and to ensure better quality and manufacturability by developing universal solutions. This Thesis was initiated when Outotec Oyj, a global supplier of proprietary equipment and plant solutions for Minerals Processing and Metals Energy and Water industries, identified the need for a more universal solution for thickener drive shaft design for future use. The objective of this Thesis is to find a harmonized thickener mechanism drive shaft cage, i.e. a steel structure design suitable for two different mechanism rake arm types through a design study. The proposed design solution must fulfil the requirements of the Machinery Directive and Eurocode is chosen as the main design code to steer the process. Research problem is formulated in the form of the following question: Can a feasible solution for a harmonized thickener mechanism drive shaft cage meeting the requirements of Eurocode be designed? Two different thickener mechanism types and sizes are assessed during the design process. SolidWorks and SolidWorks Simulation software are used for the design, optimization, and verification of the model. In addition, steel member design rules from Eurocode are applied for the member size optimization. Elastic global analysis of the steel structure where joints are modelled as continuous, i.e. joint class is rigid, is carried out. Limit state design according to Eurocode is utilized where different design actions are combined with respective combination factors to combination load cases. As a result of the study, a design suitable for both configurations was found. The outcome is an optimized drive shaft steel structure geometry and steel member sizing suitable for two different thickener mechanism designs. In addition, a more efficient drive shaft cage bracing geometry was found during he optimization process. Member size optimization rules according to Eurocode were collated and tested. In the future, these member optimization rules can be integrated to the SolidWorks Simulation model.Kaivosalalla on perinteisesti keskitytty mekaniikkasuunnittelun sijaan lähinnä prosessien optimointiin. Yritysten kannattaa kuitenkin harmonisoida tuotteitaan ja kehittämää universaaleja ratkaisuja yhtenäisemmän tuotevalikoiman saavuttamiseksi sekä paremman laadun ja valmistettavuuden varmistamiseksi. Tämä diplomityö sai alkunsa, kun Outotec Oyj, globaali prosessiratkaisuja ja -palveluita tarjoava yritys, tunnisti tarpeen universaalille sakeuttimen haran vetoakselin teräsrakenteelle. Tämän työn tavoite on suunnitella harmonisoitu sakeuttimen haran akselin teräsrakenne, joka on käytettävissä kahdessa eri sakeuttimen harassa. Ratkaisun tulee täyttää konedirektiivin vaatimukset ja Eurokoodia käytetään ohjaamaan suunnitteluprosessia. Tutkimusongelma on asetettu seuraavasti: Voidaanko harmonisoidulle sakeuttimen haran akselin teräsrakenteelle suunnitella toteuttamiskelpoinen ratkaisu, joka täyttää Eurokoodin vaatimukset? Kahta eri tyyppistä ja kokoista sakeuttimen haraa tutkittiin suunnitteluprosessin aikana. SolidWorks ja SolidWorks Simulation ohjelmistoja käytettiin mallin suunnitteluun, optimointiin ja verifiointiin. Lisäksi Eurokoodista koottuja teräsprofiilien suunnittelusääntöjä sovellettiin teräsprofiilien koon optimointiin. Liitokset mallinnettiin jäykiksi terärakenteen elastisessa analyysissä. Eri kuormitustapaukset koottiin Eurokoodin mukaisilla murtorajatilan suunnittelusäännöillä. Työn tuloksena syntyi molempiin sakeuttimen haroihin soveltuva vetoakselin teräsrakenne. Lisäksi optimointiprosessin aikana löydettiin tehokkaampi terärakenteen tuentatapa. Eurokoodin mukaiset teräsprofiilien optimointisäännöt koottiin ja testattiin.
