The arrivai of computed tomography (CT) in médical imaging has tremendously transformed patient care. The importance of CT is reflected by the hundred million scans conducted each year by more than 50,000 installations worldwide and its omniprésence in disease management. However, as any x-ray diagnostic modality, CT irradiâtes the patient. The intensive use of CT combined with its very radiant nature raises major concerns regarding a possible increased risk of cancer in the population.
