This study aims to investigate the willingness to pay for two climate mitigation targets among the citizens of Gothenburg. The studied targets were the Swedish commitment within the Paris Agreement and the national target in Sweden. Contingent Valuation Method was used to estimate the willingness to pay and the sample was collected in different parts of Gothenburg containing 204 respondents between the ages of 18 and 80. The study shows that the estimated individual willingness to pay for the commitment within the Paris Agreement was 605 SEK per month and the individual willingness to pay for the national target was estimated to an additional 254 SEK per month.
