Mental health issues have proven to be exceedingly prevalent in society. It has been reported that one in four Americans experience a mental illness in a given year, while the remaining will be exposed to a friend, family member, or colleague with a mental illness. With increased changes and pressures in all aspects of life, approximately 20% of youth ages 13 to 18 experience severe mental disorders each year (National Alliance on Mental Illness, 2013).
