Gender perception and expression by autonomous anthropomorphic entities are necessary in many digitally based educational teaching and learning activities. It is natural for a participant to expect the presence or the absence of a specific gender during his or her interaction with an anthropomorphic device, computer, human–computer interface or artificial entity such as robots.
