1. The leaf-bundles of Pinus densiflora were collected from 1-to 13-years-old stock plants (2-years-old ones were of p. densi-Thunbergii) and planted. They deve loped roots in some degree. 2. Root developing capacity declines rapidly with the increase in the ages of the stocks. The cuttings from 1-year-old stocks showed highest rooting ratios; 2-years-old ones came next; 13-years-old ones gave no rooted cuttings. 3. Treatments of K-salt of α-naphthaleneacstic acid were effective in some cases, but harmful in other cases. 4. Individualities of mother stocks greatly affect the rooting responses of pine cuttings
