The recent Advances of information technology has made drastically enhanced the availability of the computer simulation, not only in natural, but in social science. This article reviews the academic history of the simulation in the international relations (IR) and suggests how we should employ this-not yet fully appreciated-methodology in the field. The article consists of three sections. Section one gives the overview of the traditional type simulations in IR, which had prevailed mainly before 1980s. Section two examines the new type simulation, called Agent-based or Multi-Agent simulation (MA).
