This article presents a conceptual frame work for chronic eating disorders. In recent years, the pathological study of eating disorders mainly emphasized on female developmental identity. Especially, disturbance of body image perception and personality development have been focused on, which related to the ego function and the fear of maturity, although 'fear of being fat'complex is thought of one of the symptoms and body image may not be a unique factor to appearing in the eating disorder. Thus, instead of these concepts, the importance of the familial pathology and family system is beginning to receive attention now.
