The purpose of this paper is to describe a typical case of Learning Through Problem Solving of "Syoki-Syakaika", early post-war Social Studies in Japan, and to consider it from double historical viewpoints. The case is "Komon-zukuri" by Shigeru SUGIOKA, which was a teaching practice on the Hiroshima Island in the Seto Inland Sea. There was a prospect of forthcoming educational trend. To explain his challenge, a location.in two historical perspectives may be helpful. One is the shift of the Course of Study and the other is the change of teachers'conditions in their daily teaching practices.
