The risk of musculoskeletal disorders at work in the nursing team

Izhodišče: V magistrskem delu smo dali poudarek na tveganja za nastanek kostno mišičnih obolenj in njihovi oceni oz. možnosti ocene v negovalnem timu. Namen magistrskega dela je ugotoviti, če so v negovalnem timu ogroženi za nastanek kostno mišičnih obolenj in ali se tega dovolj zavedajo. Zanimalo nas je ali so smiselne obstoječe lestvice za izračun tveganja. Metode: Empirični del naloge zajema anonimni vprašalnik, ki smo ga obdelali po kvantitativni metodi dela. Do rezultatov smo prišli s pomočjo vprašalnika, ki je sestavljen iz dveh delov in zajema splošna vprašanja in vprašanja po lestvici MAC. Podatke analizirali s statističnim programom Spss in Excel. Odgovarjalo je 27 medicinskih sester oddelku za intenzivno terapijo, nego, anesteziologijo in terapijo bolečine na Ptuju. Raziskava se je izvajala Aprila 2017. Rezultati: Analiza podatkov je pokazala, da so medicinke sestre so srednje tvegana skupina za nastanek KMO po lestvici MAC, to pomeni da situacija ni alarmantna, a potrebna obravnave. Najbolj so ogrožene pri pogostosti dvigovanja težki bremen. Tudi vprašalnik ki je sledil je uvrstil medicinske sestre v delno ogrožene za nastanek KMO. Medicinske sestre se zavedajo tveganja kateremu so izpostavljene, a temu posvečajo premalo pozornosti. Sklep: Medicinske sestre se vsakodnevno dvigujejo težka bremena, zato bi bilo nujno potrebno ocenjevati tveganja za nastanek kostno mišičnih obolenj povezanih z delom z težkimi bremeni. Posledično bi se medicinske sestre izobraževale in izvajale ukrepe s katerimi bi preprečile KMO. Vzpodbujat medicinske sestre, da se same trudijo pri preprečujejo KMO.Starting point: For this master\u27s thesis we emphasized the risks for musculoskeletal disease and possibility of assessing the risks in a nursing team. The purpose of this thesis is finding out whether members of the nursing team are at risk for musculoskeletal disease and whether they are aware of such risks. We wanted to know whether there already are any appropriate risk assessment scales for such applications. Methods: The empiric part of the thesis consist of an anonymous questionnaire which we process using quantitative methods. The questionnaire was divided into two parts – one part consisted of general questions and the other consisted of questions from the MAC scale. Data was analysed using IBM SPSS and Microsoft Office Excel data analysis tools. We received 27 responses from the nursing staff working at the department for intensive care, anesthesiology and pain therapy in Ptuj. The research was carried out in April 2017 Results: Data analysis showed that the involved nursing staff have medium risk for MSD according to the MAC scale, meaning the situation isn\u27t alarming but it does require attention. The highest risk stems from a high frequency of lifting heavy burdens. The general part of the questionnaire also classified the nursing staff as being at medium risk for MSD. It also showed that the staff is well aware of the risks yet they do not take any precautions. Conclusion: Members of the nursing staff lift heavy burdens daily therefore it is necessary to assess the risks for developing musculoskeletal disorders related to heavy lifting at work. Consequently, the nursing staff would have to get properly educated and take necessary steps to avoid MSD. A solution to the problem could also lie in encouraging nurses to take necessary steps for preventing MSD themselves
