Chronic inflammation is an important factor in the pathology of different forms of joint diseases such as osteoarthritis (OA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Numerous studies indicate the involvement of purines (adenosine and ATP) in several inflammatory processes, suggesting their possible role as mediators in the inflammatory processes involved in joint diseases. This study is based on the pharmacological characterization of adenosine receptors in bovine chondrocytes and fibroblast-like synoviocytes.
