Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) featuring a fuel source engine and an energy storage source battery play an important role in improving fuel efficiency compared with its conventional counterparts. In view of the drawbacks of the existing research neglecting the thermal aspects when it comes to energy management design, this study focuses on developing an integrated energy and thermal management system for HEVs. All the mechanical and thermal models of the hybrid powertrain components are constructed in the first place. An optimization strategy is then implemented to optimize the energy flow. Numerical results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed system to improve fuel economy
