The multipulse method, which codes the residual signal after linear prediction as a sequence of pulses with a vadable amplitude and location in time , gives a highquality resynthesis. As the residual signal is calculated by inverse filtering, the multipulse excitation and the synthesis filter form one whole. Source and filter cannot be changed independently. Changes in pitch or formant structure reduce the quality of the resynthesis
