A new way of designing mobile antennas is studied in this thesis. The antenna design is based on a multiport antenna simulation model and developed optimization method. The design is based on using two major techniques: antenna clusters and switches. In antenna cluster technique, several antenna elements are fed with complex weighted signals to maximize the combined efficiency of the antennas. Switches are used to modify the antenna structure separately for low-band and high-band operations. The design provides two MIMO antennas in the low band and four at higher frequencies.
