Technical analysis is widely adopted by investors in practice. Moving average strategy is the simplest and most popular trading rule. This simple moving average strategy suffers a well-known drawback since its allocation is always either 100% or 0%. This rule is independent of the investor's risk tolerance level which is widely considered as an important factor in any investment activity. We first introduce an investor's specific risk tolerance into the moving average strategy. We then propose a single-asset generalized moving average crossover (SGMA) strategy and a multiple-asset generalized moving average crossover (MGMA) strategy.
