DYNAMICS OF THE AGRARIAN STRUCTURE IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF THE PALACIOS, PINAR DEL RÍO PROVINCE, CUBA, IN THE PERIOD 1995-2013

ABSTRACT: The study of farming needs to be tackled systemically, given the complexity of the structure, operation and relationships that characterize it, which are subject to the action of dissimilar factors. However, it is methodologically necessary to reduce the object of study, in this case, the agrarian structure, analytical category that contains in it, several of the fundamental attributes that explain its dynamics in time and space content. This research is aimed to analyze the dynamics of the agrarian structure of the municipality of Los Palacios in the period 1995-2013, its effects on territorial organization and production of the agricultural sector. It is used for this statistical material and tools of geomatics. The agrarian structure is studied from the natural components, socio-demographic, economic and productive, technological, political-legal and use and land tenure, which are considered by the author as main attributes of this category. As a result it is evident that, although the changes in some of its components have been reflected in the recovery of certain products, it is not sufficient to fit the food demand and the volume of imports. You need to focus actions towards greater capitalization of rural areas, particularly agriculture, say the productive infrastructure, rehabilitation and maintenance of irrigation and drainage, increasing Machine Park, measures that can help to reduce the migration of the rural population which currently is reported in this territory. In addition, is valued as a significant result, the process of distribution of land in Los Palacios, mainly for rice cultivation, associated with monetary gains that directly perceived by farmers as well as tradition and knowledge possessed by the rice production process
