In this study, the phylogenetic positions of the isolated Acidithiobacillus bacteria based on the determination of some hydrolytic extracellular enzyme activities and the sequence analysis of the 16S rDNA gene regions were determined which formed water and mud samples from the Awasspi river in Sulaymaniyah province, northern Iraq, and from the Darzilais sulphur based cave in Sangaw district. While the catalase activity of the isolates was positive, lipase, protease, xylanase and amylase activity were found to be negative.
