In this article we study a group of common pottery from the first centuries of Islamic occupation (8th-10th centuries). We are specially interested in the problems of its origin and its relationship with the late Roman world. For this reason we have made a parallel study of common, handmade pottery of late Roman times, characteristic of the contexts in which fine African pottery no longer appears (6th-7th centuries). We present a typological classification of both productions and propose the definition of a new cultural horizon of the time of the Emirate. The said horizon is relatively homogeneous for the South-East of the Peninsula, and its precedents seem to be found in the strong continuity of late Roman traditions of North African chara...
