This research project aims to contribute to the fruitful discussion and controversy regarding the new spatial processes and clear movements of population from areas of higher concentration to those of lower concentration. The objective is to provide empirical evidence of counter-urbanization on the basis of demographic, housing, and economic data in the Mexican context, taking into account both intracity and intercity levels of analysis. Tis makes it possible to explain the trends in the urban structure of the Metropolitan Zone of the Valley of Mexico and in the country's urban system
