Various carbonaceous materials are valuable resources for thermochemical conversion processes and for production of materials of proven sorption properties, useful in environmental applications for gaseous and liquid media treatment. In both cases, the parameters of the porous structure of carbon materials are decisive in terms of their physical and mechanical properties, having direct effects on heat and mass transport as well as on sorption capacity and selectivity.
