De la crise militaro-politique à la crise foncière: la révélation de l'intolérance intercommunautaire à partir des affrontements de Dio (Biankouma)

From the Military-political Crisis to the Land Crisis: the Revelation of Inter-communal Intolerance from the Clashes of Dio (Biankouma). Starting from the case of inter-communal clashes in the village of Dio, this article studies, based on a field survey and bibliographic research, the land conflicts that took place in the Biankouma sub-prefecture (West Ivory Coast) after the military-political crisis of 2002. During this crisis, the Burkinabe foreigners settled in the territory of Dio, in complicity with the Yacouba of Doue and Zouzousso. When peace returned in 2011, the indigenous Toura from Dio settled in a logic of recovery of their land in order to reestablish their authority whereas the foreigners organized themselves to consolidate their gains. From this climate of hostility, tensions developed which culminated in 2014 into violent clashes between Burkinabe and Toura. Despite attempts to resolve the conflict, the tension is still palpable to the point that intercultural relations and living conditions have deteriorated. This study aims to analyze the impacts of the Ivorian crises from 2002 to 2010 on land, community life and food availability in Biankouma. Based on qualitative data collected, the theory of environmental conflicts was used in the analysis
