Public administration is undergoing major reforms as a result of the country’s transition to a free market economy and of social development. Consequently, employees of public authorities face a highly demanding and rapidly changing work environment that requires both more in-depth skills and well-established human resource policies. In this study it is argued that stress is a phenomenon faced by staff of public authorities and which has negative consequences on employees’ health and the effectiveness of public authorities. In this regard, it is important for both national and public authorities to undertake joint actions to prevent and mitigate stress in the work of people employed by public authorities
