Problems related to the reproductive potential of girls from the zone of military conflict

Aim of the study: to determine the reproductive potential status in children from the anti-terrorist operation zone (ATO), who were treated in the State Institution «IOZDP NAMS». Materials and methods. The study comprised 158 girls aged 7–17 years, who underwent treatment in different departments of the Institute. Assessment of their physical development was carried out using centile tables, and the body mass index (BMI) was calculated. Sexual development stages were defined according to the J. Tanner (1969) classification. Results. A purposive gynecological examination of girls from the zone of military conflict made it possible to establish a high level of disorders regarding sexual maturation and menstrual function formation. It has been revealed that functional abnormalities, most often in the form of hypomenstrual syndrome (oligomenorrhea and secondary amenorrhea), dominate among the established diagnoses. Conclusion. Sexual development is a dynamic process that should be considered as one of the main informative criteria of the childhood health. Timely revealing of abnormalities in the sexual development and menstrual function formation as well as and their correction raise the level of health and ensure the maintenance and strengthening of the reproductive potential
