The purpose of this research is to show that the water supply of territories is the basic factor for the growth of modern cities. Analytical methods of scientific research were used in this study. Analysis of modern water supply was carried out to identify the problems in this area. Nowadays, there have been negative trends in water supply, affecting the growth of cities, which were indicated by the authors as the modern conditions for the sustainable urban development.
